AI beauty advisor: a virtual beauty sales consultant that knows the customer's skin before it recommends

MaIA Beauty Advisor is B4A's AI beauty advisor for brands: a virtual beauty sales consultant that uses the customer's skin and hair profile — read from a selfie with MaIA Scan or taken from your questionnaire — to match products from your catalogue to her beauty attributes and explain why. On WhatsApp, on the product page and in the site or app chat. It is the same technology as the assistant already answering on every glam product page, delivered to your brand as a full project.

Delivered as a project: we integrate your catalogue, your brand voice and the channels where your customer buys.

  • 3 channelsthe brand's WhatsApp, the product page and the site or app chat
  • 100%of recommendations come from your catalogue — only what you sell, in stock
  • 1 profileof skin and hair per customer, read from a selfie or from your quiz
  • glamreal case: "Is this a match for you? Ask MaIA" on every PDP

What an AI beauty advisor is — and why it has to know the customer

A beauty chatbot answers questions. An AI beauty advisor sells — and to sell well it has to do what the best store consultant does: look at the customer before speaking. MaIA Beauty Advisor starts from the person's real profile (skin tone and undertone, skin type and signs such as oiliness or spots, hair type, preferences) and from the brand's real catalogue (products, attributes, variants, availability) to answer the question that stalls the purchase: "is this product for me?".

The answer is always grounded. Instead of "this is our best-seller", the advisor says: "your combination skin with shine in the T-zone suits this foundation's oil-free texture — and with your warm undertone, 340W is the right shade". Then it completes the routine with what makes sense, reminds her to restock when the product runs out and hands back to the brand what it learned in the conversations.

The profile can come from two sources, combined or not: MaIA Scan's selfie read (the customer sends a photo and the advisor builds the profile in seconds) and the beauty questionnaire the brand already has. At glam, for instance, the Beauty Profile comes from the club questionnaire plus MaIA; the selfie read is what MaIA Scan adds.

How it works, in four steps

The advisor joins the channels you already have. There is no new app for the customer to download.

  1. We integrate your catalogue

Products, attributes (shades, textures, actives, indications), variants, price, member price and availability. This is what guarantees it only recommends what you sell — and what is in stock.

  2. The customer arrives with a question or a selfie

"Is this product for me?" on the PDP, "what should I use for oily skin?" on WhatsApp, or simply a photo. If there is no profile yet, the advisor builds one: from the selfie (MaIA Scan) or from two or three questions.

  3. It matches profile to catalogue and explains

The recommendation comes with its reason, tied to the person's profile: tone, undertone, skin type, hair. If the product is not a match, it says so and shows the alternative that is — with price and a link to the cart.

  4. The conversation continues after the purchase

How to use it, a three-step routine, when to restock. And every conversation becomes a signal for the brand: recurring questions, objections, requested products missing from the catalogue, shades that do not exist.

Where the advisor works: WhatsApp, product page and chat

WhatsApp beauty assistant

The customer sends a selfie to the brand's WhatsApp. The advisor builds the profile, recommends products with a direct link to the cart, follows the routine and says when it is time to restock. Consultative selling in the channel people already use.

On the product page

An "Is this product for me?" button on every PDP. The advisor answers with the person's profile: whether it suits her, why, and what fits better if it does not. This is how it was born at glam — "Is this a match for you? Ask MaIA".

In the site and app chat

Before deciding, the person asks. After buying, the advisor teaches how to use it, builds the routine and solves the doubt that would have become an exchange or a return.

Quiz, e-mail and retail

The same profile-based recommendation engine feeds the quiz result, the personalised e-mail showcase and the human consultant's screen at the counter or kiosk.

Matching products to a beauty profile: how the match happens

The heart of the advisor is crossing beauty attributes with product attributes. That is what separates it from a chatbot fed only by product descriptions.

skin.tone · skin.undertone → shade

Foundation, concealer and lipstick

The customer's tone and undertone against the product's shade range. It is the match that cuts exchanges most: she gets the shade right the first time.

skin.type · skin_scan.* → texture, actives

Skincare and makeup by skin type

Oily skin with T-zone shine calls for oil-free textures and control actives; dry skin calls for hydration. The advisor reads that in the profile and filters the catalogue.

hair.structure · hair.color → line

Hair care and colour

Curly, coily, straight or wavy; dark brown or blonde — the right hair routine and colour come from the profile, not from a guess.

catalogue → stock, price, variants

Only what you sell

Every suggestion is a real, available product with price (and member price, where it exists) and link. No recommending what does not exist or has sold out.

routine → steps

A basket that makes sense

The advisor completes the routine — cleanse, treat, protect — instead of pushing the priciest item. Cross-sell the customer recognises as help.

conversation → signal

Data that flows back to the brand

Recurring questions, objections, requested products that are missing, shades that do not exist. Input for catalogue, content and product development.

Real case: MaIA Beauty Advisor on every glam product page

On glam.com.br every product page has two buttons: "Does it match my profile?" and "See alternatives that match me". MaIA reads the customer's Beauty Profile, explains why the product is (or is not) a match and suggests alternatives from the store with club price and link — the sale continues in the same flow. The recording on our site was made on 21 September 2026, on a real account, unedited.

It is the same MaIA platform you integrate: the advisor serving Latin America's largest beauty clubs, delivered to your brand with your catalogue, your voice and your channels.

Why a virtual beauty sales consultant converts

  • Certainty before the click: doubt stalls the purchase; an answer made for that skin, at that moment, removes it on the spot — with no wait for human support.
  • The right shade on the first purchase: foundation, concealer, hair colour. With a real profile the person gets it right the first time — fewer exchanges, fewer returns, less frustration.
  • Repurchase at the right moment: it knows what the customer uses and when it runs out; the reminder arrives before the empty shelf — and before the competition.
  • Scale without losing the consultative touch: the same quality of service for the thousandth customer of the day, in three channels, at any hour.
  • Brand voice: tone of voice, vocabulary and recommendation rules are configured in the project — the advisor speaks the way your brand speaks.

Privacy and consent

The customer's consent is collected before any selfie or personal question, under Brazil's LGPD and your local rules. The photo read uses MaIA Scan, which does no facial recognition and infers no protected traits; the structured profile is stored with model and pipeline versions, and raw-image retention is configurable per project. Low-confidence fields are confirmed with the person, not assumed.

Integration: the advisor is delivered as a project

Unlike MaIA Scan and MaIA Try-On, the Beauty Advisor is not a self-service endpoint. It depends on your catalogue and your channels — so B4A designs, builds and operates it.

What brands ask about the AI beauty advisor

Not as a self-service endpoint. It is delivered as a project — on the brand's WhatsApp, as a button on the product page or in chat — because it depends on your integrated catalogue and your channels. The skin and hair profile it uses is self-service via API, with MaIA Scan.
